Microstim unit to assist Katie’s recovery

We recently received a request from Katie who was involved in a car accident two years ago. She was flown by air ambulance to the Walton Centre, and was in a coma in ICU for several days, and spent 13 months in hospital altogether, including complex rehab unit (CRU).

The result was an acquired brain injury, and right-sided weakness, which means she can no longer write, and she has to use a walking aid. Whilst in the complex rehab some of the therapy was focused on getting movement back in her wrist and fingers.

They used a microstim unit on a regular basis, and then recommended ongoing use to assist her recovery.  This was not possible for Katie…until now!

Today, which is actually two years to the day since her accident, Katie visited physio for treatment and began treatment with her very own 2V2 Microstim Kit, donated to her by Dream Catcher. Katie wrote to us once she had picked it up from her physiotherapist and said “it’s great!!! Thank you so much for organising it for me!”  We think you can see from the smile on Katie’s face how much this piece of equipment means to her.

We would like to thank everyone who supports us in our efforts to make dreams come true!
